About Sergei Zinchuk
Sergei Zinchuk’s art is driven by his interests in perception, spatial relationships, and feelings of self. Not limited to the confines of the gallery, his practice strives for transcending embodied experiences through disrupting the expected and mundane interactions and challenging concept of reality.
Audience is often choreographed or manipulated into participation through spatial and architectural interventions, animating the work and becoming its subject in the process. In many ways the work does not exist without agency of people.
Media or physical elements of the work are secondary, or rather they are carefully chosen to be incidental, structures are exposed and transparent to allow the work to focus on distilling experiences and facilitating environments that are perceptually challenging, but accessible and relevant to preoccupations of modern life.
